Sri.Vittal Chintalgattu


Mr. Vittal Chintalgattu was serving in the Intermediate Education Department Government of Telangana as an Auditor/ Superintendent before he assumed the office of the Telangana State Public Service Commission as its First Member on December 18, 2014. He is a famous Telangana activist and Founder President of the Telangana Employees Association, Founder General Secretary of Telangana Vidya Vanthula Vedika ( Intellectuals Forum) and worked as Co-Chairman of Telangana Joint Action Committee which played a crucial role in the formation of Telangana state. He is also a member of Anti-Suicides Awareness Committee along with Prof. Chakrapani. He is born in a remote village of Ranga Reddy District in a small former family. He obtained M.Com and LL.B from Osmania University, Hyderabad. When he was a student at university level he conducted NSS program at his village and made efforts in construction of road for about 5 kms with the involvement of people and initiated RTC bus service, establishment of a primary school and housing facility to weaker sections.

He commenced his career with a brief stint as a journalist in a Telugu Daily in 1987. Later, he worked as Lecturer in Commerce in Sri Ramachandra Degree College (Aided Institution) Hyderabad for four years. He joined Government Service by selection in the recruitment to Group-II services in 1991.

He is not only a person of rich and varied administrative experience, but also an active social activist. In the 1990s he conducted various programs, seminars and meetings for separate Telangana. As an employees leader he vociferously advocated strict implementation of G.O. Ms No. 610 and the provisions of the Presidential Order of 1975. As a representative of Telangana employees he represented the Telangana employees issues pertaining to constitutional provisions on local reservations to the Girglani Committee on six-point formula, the House Committee constituted on implementation of G. O. Ms No. 610 and also the Officers Committee headed by the Chief Secretary of the then government in early 2001.

He triggered the movement against Hyderabad as a free zone issue, and played a pivotal role in the formation of the Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee of which he was the Chairman and Secretary General. He moved forward with the formation of the Telangana Joint Action Committee and acted as a member of the steering committee and Co-Chairman. He is one among the key persons who led the historical Telangana movements such as peaceful non-co-operation, Sakala Janula Samme, Sagaraharam, etc., which created the path for formation of Telangana State on June 2, 2014.

A well known columnist, he has published several articles in reputed newspapers. As an analyst, he has participated in several live debates on TV channels. Among Telangana employees and people at large he is known to be a man of simplicity, honesty, and integrity with dedication and a spirit for social service.
